The better self defense

Recently a student told me what we are doing is just street fight..... And that is what it is....
In a self defense situation we do not try to entertain the public. We do not try to stand a few rounds of 5 minutes. We do not try to get awarded for the great performance. We do not try to be technically correct and we do not collect points from a judge.
So what do we do?
We want to be safe and we do everything to achieve that goal. We try to finish the fight as soon as we can. The longer the fight takes the more chance we have to get hit. We use everything we have and we are not limited to hands, elbow, knees and legs. We hit everywhere it hurts most (not allowed in competition/sports).
How do we get there? We train hard. We train realistic. We train effective. We have group classes where we train technical and we have free fight classes where we prepare for the worst.
